We created this foldable and put it on page 16. We took a few additional notes
- if the power is 1, then the value is equal to the base
- if you have 0 to any power the value is zero
- if you have 10 to any power, the exponent tells you how many 0's to add to a 1
- if you have 100 to any power, you have to double the exponent and that is how many 0's will be behind the 1
- any base to the 0 power is equal to 1
Students then completed this quick worksheet to make sure they understood that multiplication is the only operation allowed when dealing with exponents.
